Employers for Apprentices

Apprenticeships are good for business and are a sound business investment. This is our key message.

We are a group of senior business leaders who believe in Apprenticeships because we have seen the benefits that they bring to our businesses, including increased productivity, greater staff retention, increased profitability and more highly motivated workforces. These are just a few of the benefits that make a compelling business case for Apprenticeships and there is more specific evidence available on the website.

Gordon Brown, then Chancellor of the Exchequer asked me to establish and lead this Network to continue the work of the Apprenticeship Task Force, a group I also chaired. The Task Force looked at barriers to employer engagement in Apprenticeships and put forward a number of recommendations, which are being implemented.

There have been many developments to improve the quality and delivery of Apprenticeships and in general workplace learning and there has never been a better time to take on apprentices. Government is 100% behind Apprenticeships and is supporting this commitment with resources to help employers to gain the skilled workforces they need to remain competitive in this global market.

Other recent initiatives such as the introduction of diplomas are also a very valuable tool to help employers get the skills they need, an initiative I welcome wholeheartedly.

Throughout this website you’ll find information and research, as well as links to other sources of information. We also issue a regular newsletter, where we provide an update on our activity and developments in Apprenticeships.
